Friends Are Necessary (FAN) Clubs
Adults with developmental disabilities like everyone else want and need friends but often times lack the opportunities to develop these vital links. In order to stimulate these social interactions, LIFE provides parents with a support group to foster friendships for both the individual with a developmental disability and their family members through social and recreational activities.
In the past, these activities have included going to the movies, attending plays and dances as well as day trips to local amusement and theme parks. LIFE subsidizes these activities in order to make them affordable for all. We also organize and hold an annual Halloween Barbecue at Whispering Oaks – our adopted group home – complete with costume contest, face painting, DJ, and arts & crafts.
